You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand the benefits of quitting smoking – you can exercise better, have more vitality, less guilt, don’t smell like an ashtray, have more money, increased lung function… Not to mention the dramatic reduction in your chances of death by lung cancer or heart disease.

Despite these overwhelming incentives, many people still struggle to kick a highly addictive dependency and will try numerous methods to quit. Hypnotherapy can be the lowest on the checklist, as people see it as somehow lightweight. Here are a few reasons why hypnotherapy remains the best choice for you to stub out that last cigarette.

Hypnotherapy is the quick and efficient
Whereas nicotine patches can take months to wean you off the addiction, hypnotherapy is dynamic and instant. In fact, the full treatment is only a relaxing two hours session – come in a smoker and leave a non-smoker.

You are not alone
Most stop smoking therapies can be brought over the counter in a chemist shop. There is little interaction with others and going it alone often leads to failure. When working with a hypnotherapist you have someone who truly understands the nature of addiction and how best to support you in giving up what can appear to be an insurmountable task.

Hypnotherapy has the best success rates
Ten years ago a Which? report concluded that of all the systems used to stop smoking, hypnotherapy has the most success.

You have very few cravings
Most people who have given up through hypnotherapy would conclude that the reason it was so effective was because they didn’t yearn for a cancer stick. People are staggered that, after years of being imprisoned in a craving cycle, their bodies can so easily go without a cigarette. Most of our subjects report little or no cravings whatsoever.

Hypnotherapy is cost effective
Although there is an initial outlay cost of the treatment, other forms of stop smoking therapy, such as nicotine patches, will spread a much greater cost over an extended period of time. Often nicotine patches can be around AED130 for a week’s supply and this cost can skyrocket if a client is on them for long periods.

Hypnotherapy is incredibly pleasant
Nicotine replacement is a slow procedure, cold turkey is unpleasant and rarely effective on a long term basis. Hypnotherapy, on the other hand is a process that promotes positivity, relaxation and creativity. Quitting a bad habit has never been so soporific.

The relapse rate is minimal
In research conducted by the Clifton Practice in 2003, participants were given the opportunity of free extra sessions if the quit smoking hypnotherapy they purchased was unsuccessful. Six months later only 8.3 per cent of clients returned to take up this offer suggesting that failure for quit smoking hypnotherapy was under 10 per cent.

Hypnotherapy deals with the actual root problem
Most nicotine replacement therapies help you quit by steadily reducing the nicotine intake, but this does not tackle the route of the problem. Addiction happens in the limbic system of the brain, so when we intellectualise the habit most people reject it at a deep level. Other therapies rarely deal with why we smoke on the first place and, therefore, never break the cognitive association between pleasure and smoking.

Hypnotherapy is based upon science
Hypnotherapy is often misjudged because of stage hypnotists performing entertaining routines involving chickens – this is a misconception. The success of hypnotherapy is actually based in pure science rather than faith – once you understand how our brains are wired to crave cigarettes it is easy to understand how we can re-wire our brains under hypnosis.

There are other benefit
When we work together using hypnosis we achieve so much. The focus of stop smoking hypnotherapy will, at the same time as helping you quit a life threatening addiction, address a number of other important feelings, with many clients reporting increased confidence, self-esteem and happiness after hypnotherapy treatment.
